On this track I'm playing a gong I named Murph. Yes, I know it's a silly name for a gong. :-)
Although I'm playing it very tenderly, this gong has immense power. Even in its waking slumber you can feel its potency. You can feel the lurking power of jet engines, of gravity, of earthquakes just beneath the surface!
Christopher Nolan's sci-fi film "Interstellar" has a character called Murph, around whom much of the emotional content of the story turns. The film has amazing sounds, visuals and feels like a great exploration into the physics of the universe. The name Murph, (for my gong) popped into my mind, made me laugh, and then it stuck :-)
This gong is a 36" Chinese wind gong.
